waiting.. We did tour around Gran Canaria with Lea and Willem, the Dutch
people the welder is still working on.. we visited the 'crater' in the
misty top and some higher (2000m..) and the on the other side sun was shining,
we lunched at Morgan and the saw the steep cliffs on the west side. It is
a spectacular landscape here and due to the high mountain the small island
has all climates, we in the north have bad weather at the moment..
Above green and red layers in the rock..
11/6 Nothing happening, waiting for welder to have time. When we went a
shore with the Condor he was supposed to have time..Now we're just
waisting money standing ashore sadly. We painted the woodwork around the
cockpit and found some shit we need in the mast and for the cooker..
cu
Sailing the Laser was with hardly any wind, skipped last day..
5/11 Sinterklaas not known here.. Have fun there
anyhow.. Sailing 12-14 knots, oh we wish, it was
towing out, waiting, probably an early start of me in the end and then at
the last upper mark the races were cancelled because of wind shift and no
wind at all any more... and towed back in. Tomorrow more of that shit.
Perfect dinner afterwards by the way, nice organization, since I entered
yesterday and no entrance fee..
Luc sailed at 1800..
Welder has time next week.. so we wait. We is
now with Pim..
so I have
much needed help on board. Luc van Poelje is leaving tomorrow for St
Maarten now with Mathias (Den), Chris (Aus) and Arthur (Fr) (Dog stays
here) so good luck to them
I entered for Laser races at ... Real Club Náutico de Gran Canaria ...
(click on the right picture bottom right at IMPORTANT EVENTS and there
also results will be )..
I start at
1100 tomorrow, 3 races a day, 4 days long. It is over an hour to the
sailing course so up at 7 or so to get something to eat and put stickers
on boat etc. I sailed a little bit to day, and did some repairs, but light
winds I expect, and although I've lost some weight u should not expect me
at the front of the fleet.. I'll make some pictures of course..
I sailed to SailMike » Blog
and spoke to him, lots of people helping him, he wants to test systems for
24 hours now and then leave Saturday or so
3/12 Pieter Schoenmakers (in front of
mast) leaving at 0830 for St Maarten
OK back on shore, and we even see
where the water goes in/out.. We looked at that spot in Cascais and I
thought the welder had covered that as well, maybe to much sanded of
later..
I even had to take the wind mill down, otherwise the crane could not pass,
the Laser is of and ready to sail the Olympic week here Friday..
The next pictures are from the Cascais welding action.. It shows the
crack and the welding..
So, what to do, take everything of,
weld an extra plate on it to be on the safe side and weld the crack on the
inside.. How to get water out, the skeg sounds hollow. Somebody else (Wiebe
Mulder, he is crossing now with Groeneveld on a Halberg Grassie 46) told
me that such spaces can be filled with oil, preferably like light hydraulic
oil..
1/12 The unfortunately 16 year old Mike SailMike - Mike Perham - World Challenge
coming in with auto pilot problems, he tries to be the youngest solo
around the world and also had to stop a week ago in Cascais with the same
problems. (read his blog on his site)
Pietser Schoenmakers and crew.. Yellowdrama IV - Skipper-Crew Blake and Clarissa Richter

out this summer..
needs more attention. Kotterfok val runs through here under a strange
angle starting 40cm above the stay along which the kotterfok is mounted
on..
